Toledo Walleye Partners With Wildwood Environmental Academy
Wildwood Environmental Academy students had the opportunity to visit the Toledo Walleye, a mid-level professional hockey team that is affiliated with the Detroit Red Wings. Students were able to visit the Huntington Center, where the Toledo Walleye play their games, and visit with the players. They had many opportunities to interact with the players, including spending time on the ice, eating lunch together and engaging in thoughtful conversations. Students talked with the team about life in college, goals versus dreams and how they can sometimes both be achieved. Students were nominated by their teachers to attend based on many factors including perseverance and hard work in the classroom. Those who were chosen to attend are already asking to go back again next year.
See the video below of Susan Brimmer, assistant school leader at WEA, discussing the visit.
