Mrs. Cross and her 3rd grade class are helping their bee friends prepare for Winter... Students are learning how animals prepare for hibernation in the winter. We will be taking care of the Pollinator Hotel- where the bees hibernate for the winter located outside of our classroom. We will be gathering reeds and sticks and helping to build upon the home for the bees. Students will help collect reeds and sticks and other items to help prepare the bees home for winter. They will also paint the boards that are the structures for the bees home. Helping Protect Wildlife and working with and organization online called the Big Bug Hunt. By helping provide bees places to live in the winter it helps our environment by protecting these important insects that help our environment thrive. Our project engages students in a cross curricular manner by incorporating reading when students read about how animals prepare for the winter and when they research about bees and their importance in our environment. We also learn about art when we paint the boards that are the structures for the bees home. Thank you 3rd grade! |
