Hi Everyone,
I trust everyone is doing well! We picked up my son at the airport last night. He flew in from Hawaii after visiting his brother and his family in the military. He was supposed to only go for three weeks but three weeks ended up over two months. He is missing the Hawaiian weather already! The nice thing though is that the weather here is predicted to be warmer the next few weeks!
Next week (week of May 18th), I am going to be volunteering at WEA every afternoon with the pick up of belongings and dropping off packet 3. Please check the messaging from WEA concerning when you are supposed to come and do that. There are many options and if you are not quite finished with packet 3, you still have until the beginning of the following week to turn everything in.
Thank you for those students who attended 1:1’s with me to do some assessments. My goal of doing those is to give feedback to parents so that they know what areas of improvement their child needs. If you did not sign up this week and would still like to have your child meet with me, I am available in the mornings next week. Just let me know and we will set up a time.
For next week, I am going to be reading “Mr. Chicken Goes to Paris” by Leigh Hobbs. However, I am only going to be offering the 3pm session on Tuesday, May 19th. I will send out the link on Tuesday morning. I would love to see more faces during that time. This week, I read a different Leigh Hobbs story called “Old Tom”. It is a very funny story. I talked to the students about character development and encouraged them to draw their own character and describe them. There are two sides of a character: physical traits and personality traits. Here is the recording of the book: https://youtu.be/8ac-c-lGsLA
Remember, all the books I have recorded, as well as books recorded by Mrs. Hagemeyer are posted on my teacher page on https://www.wildwoodisgreen.com/
Although next week is technically the last week of school for students, I would like to see if there is an interest in students coming to storytime once a week over the summer break. Feel free to send me an email if that is something that might interest you. I think it would be great to still connect throughout the summer.
I will also keep my Facebook Page up throughout the summer break. If you have not joined, it is not too late: https://www.facebook.com/groups/KobylskiEPATReading/
Have a wonderful weekend! Hopefully, I can get some flowers planted.
Smiles,
Mrs. K
