9th Grade
Hello 9th graders!
So there has been a change in plans. I originally wanted you to work on a Whale Talk assignment however it has been a while since we have read it together. So in lieu of that, I will instead be giving you two readings (technically 3) that require you to think about characterization. This packet shouldn’t be too complicated however the readings will likely take you some time.
Sincerely,
Ms.Hicks

- The first reading is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. When you are reading this keep in mind what the character wants. Answer the questions and prompts that appear in the packet and think critically about what is occurring.
- The second packet is a bit heftier. This contains two short stories that you need to compare the first being The Scarlet Ibis, which some of you might already know, and the second is The Golden Kite, The Silver Wind. As with the first packet, I would like you to answer the questions and prompts that appear. Once you have completed the packet please write me a short response (minimum of 7 sentences) that compares the two literary pieces and their characters/character development.
Sincerely,
Ms.Hicks

11th and 12th Grade
Hello, 11th and 12th graders!
This should be a bit of a blast from the past (first quarter) in which we will be delving back into some epics! I figure that if we are going to be separate for the last stretch of the school year I should cover something that is widespread and easy to research on your own without it being too difficult. So without further ado let’s delve into King Arthur! There are many versions of this topic however we are going to focus on only two stories.

- Read Mort d’Arthur and Arthur Becomes King of Britain from the Once and Future King answer the prompts that show up within the reading. You will also need to answer the questions on pages 1074-1075 and 1092-1093. The only thing you won’t be doing is the extended learning
- Instead of the extended learning, you will be watching the videos that were posted below. These will also be put in classroom if you need it.
